God's doesn't want any of us to walk through life alone. In addition to His promise to be with us always, God created a way to keep us from being isolated and lonely. He created a way for us to live meaningful lives that makes a difference. That way is called the "church." The church is not just a building. It is people — people who know God's love and who want to share God's love.

Small Groups
As the church grows, it can become more challenging to connect with each other in meaningful friendships. That's where small groups come in. After Jesus ascended into heaven, the church grew from about 120 believers to thousands of believers! The Bible tells us that this great number of believers not only met together for worship, but they also met in their homes. The practice of getting together in small groups became a hallmark of believers in Jesus.

Small Groups at Concordia Lutheran Church
Concordia is a vibrant church with a community of faith in the thousands. It resembles the New Testament church in many ways. In order to allow the people of Concordia to be active in living out what God intends the church to be, we have established small groups as a focal point of ministry.

Who should join a LIFE Group?
All adults are invited to find a group that is right for them. We also have small groups for high school and middle school students.

How can I find a group?
There are four ways to find a LIFE Group at Concordia.

First, you can browse the online Life Groups directory and search for the group that fits your needs. Once you find your group, you can even join online!

Second, you can choose a group during one of our "connection" times that happen when we kick off our fall and winter/spring spiritual growth campaigns. These connection times happen on Sunday mornings.

Third, you may be invited to a group by a group leader of member. You can try the group out and see if it's the right one for you.

Fourth, you can contact Pastor Josh Hower at or 210-479-1477. Specify the type of group you prefer (Singles, Couples, Parents, Seniors, etc.) and the day and time that would work best for you. We'll give you some suggestions that you can follow up on.
